Depot Town Forward
Over the course of the summer, thousands of antique cars return to their roots when they roll into Ypsilanti’s Historic Depot Town. Tens of thousands of visitors attend these popular events which are sponsored by the Depot Town Forward Group (DTFG), an organization of Depot Town merchants and classic car buffs.
The mission of the DTFG is to promote and preserve the Depot Town area, a fascinating slice of American history. Their unique goal is, not so much the mixing of raised storage area warehouse past and present, but rather, to bring the past alive in all its glory!
During the Model T Show, dozens of Model Ts roll through the streets of Ypsilanti and congregate at Depot Town where they seem perfectly at home.Depot Town Cruise Nights (held every Thursday evening throughout the summer, barring rain), brings classic cars of all kinds to line East Cross Street. Beautiful Riverside Park, at the edge of Depot Town, is the home of many major car events in the Depot Town area. These events include The Orphan Car Show and The Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Festival.
While attending any of these great shows, visitors will also enjoy checking out any of the area’s wonderful specialty shops for gifts, car loans, coins and jewelry, antiques, home furnishings and more. Then, relax at a patio café for dinner and a brew.
Depot Town has it all!
